Here are iPAG Biographies of some of our members… we may not look quite like this though!
We started the group after an informal Central Scotland T1 meet up in Paisley in 2008. Since them many supporters have come and gone. We hope we have encouraged people to not give up going after what they want to improve their health and wellbeing. Our main reason for starting the group was in the hope of others not having to follow the same journey we did. We are all volunteers, with families and day jobs, but we do the best we can to help and support others.
We started specifically raising awareness and campaigning for insulin pumps, but we now cover Type 1 Diabetes in general and anything in the NHS which affects it. We have representation on many groups and work along side charities. We do presentations, meetings, briefs,

Mary was a founder member of iPAG in 2008.

Joel was a founder member of iPAG in 2008.

Jackie works in the voluntary sector and has had T1D since she was 19 years old.

Aileen was a founder member of iPAG in 2008. Aileen started helping Jackie Jacombs run CWD UK (the first and original group for parents in the UK, supported by CWD) and continues with that while running social media for iPAG too. Aileen’s son Marc was diagnosed in 2006 when he had just turned 13 years old, and has had a very bumpy journey since, especially as he was referred to adult services at diagnosis, and never won that battle to get to paediatric services in their home city, Glasgow.

Kim is Mum to Euan who was diagnosed at 22 months old, he is now 19.




Kevin was diagnosed in 2014 originally as late onset type one diabetes (LADA) which was quickly confirmed by a GAD test. Kevin uses insulin on a basal/bolus regime and carb counts. He has attended various courses help manage his diabetes best he can. I use the
Kevin uses the FreeStyle Libre and loves trying new and emerging technologies. He is active in pushing local politicians and policy makers to strive for better diabetic services his area. Kevin works full time as a trade supervisor for Screwfix.
Kevin adds – I also have a scruffy wee dug called Mick who keeps me active between us we have some great talks about diabetes and how we plan to keep it in check. When not working or out with my dog I enjoy the company of my wife and my grown-up kids.
