The Tandem T:Slim insulin pump is now available in the UK. (subject to local prescribing) It received its CE Mark in April 2018.
We got to see the Tandem t:slim X2 up close and look forward to more user reviews to see if it is as great as it seems!

Tandem manufactures and sells the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump Tandem is based in San Diego, California. Tandem is represented in the UK by Air Liquide Homecare.
The pump is small and sleek with a very interesting reservoir which is one of the reasons Tandem have managed to keep the pump so neat and compact.
It has a small rechargeable battery, it is quick and easy to charge and can normally be done once a week through any USB socket. Dexcom CGM integrates with the T:Slim and all updates are done through software updates making sure it will always be up there with the rapidly changing technology of today. There are no details in how this will be done in the UK yet, but we will publish more details as we get them.
My friend whose son has been using the t:slim in America since 2012 said:It is charged through a micro USB, like android phones and also the Dexcom. So you plug it into a charging cube or you can charge at your computer or in the car. Also you can buy a “power bank” that instead of keeping charged, you just pop some fresh AA batteries into it. The charge lasts about a week. We have outlets in the bathrooms and so a lot of people take off the pump and plug it in while they shower. Then it’s topped up at all times. My son charges once a week (while he’s wearing it). It holds 300u, the infusion sites are small, the pump is small. It’s amazing how precisely you can tailor an insulin dose. It looks nice. The touchscreen is not just a gimmick. The tandem website has a simulator program or app. Oh, the best is when new features/programming comes out, you won’t need to wait for a new pump to be built, you won’t need to wait to get the newest, you can download the enhancements by computer!
