Dexcom G5® Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring System

Dexcom G5Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) unveils what no meter can. While meters give a number for a single point in time, CGM provides glucose information by showing where your glucose is, where it’s going, and how fast it’s getting there. High and low alerts can be set enabling easier control of your levels.  Better yet, you can eliminate the need for confirmatory finger prick tests, for daily glucose management decisions with the Dexcom G5. The Dexcom Share app allows you to share your data with up to 5 people with compatible devices using the Dexcom Follow® App! It doesn’t get much better than this!

Flexibility of Two Monitoring Devices

Although the System is a fully-mobile platform, a Dexcom CGM receiver can be used with this system. This gives you the freedom to monitor your glucose data on your smart device with the Mobile app or by using a G5 Mobile receiver, which ever you prefer.

I have not had the opportunity to trial the G5, however I have learned a lot about it in groups and through friends.  This is an example from a friend who’s son was struggling with his control.  You will see the incredible progress over his first 6 weeks using the Dexcom G5. Seeing the full picture allowed them to tweak basals, bolus, timings etc and this is on Multiple Daily Injections.Dexcom G5 Graphwww.dexcom.com/en-GB

Dexcom G5 Mobile CGMThe G5 Mobile System requires a new Dexcom G5 Transmitter every 3 months, whilst also requiring the use of Dexcom G4/G5 sensors, each with a warranty of 7 days, although many people can extend the use considerably, thus, reducing the overall cost if self-funding.
