MiniMed Paradigm® Veo™ System
This popular pump has been available many years now. It is a robust pump and has all the basic features you would expect from an insulin pump. It is very easy to use with less button pressing through menus to complete a task than other pumps.
It is compatible with CGM using a MiniLink transmitter and Medtronic Enlite Sensors, which are available to purchase as an add on to your pump. (some areas will provide NHS funding) When using compatible CGM in conjunction with the Veo there is the added feature of low glucose suspend. Once your blood glucose hits a pre-programmed level the pump will automatically suspend insulin. This is the first pump to have this feature and it is the start of the journey through different stages of pumps to a fully automated Advanced Pancreas (AP) type system.
The new Medtronic pump is the 640G, which was released in 2015, however many clinics still use the Veo, primarily due to cost.
If you are happy with a simple to use, basic pump, you cannot go wrong with the Veo. The main downfall is that it is not waterproof. It has a waterproof rating of IPX-7 (splash proof or accidental immersion)
