Glucose Monitoring CGM Dexcom new European headquarters in Edinburgh

Dexcom new European headquarters in Edinburgh

Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Dexcom has put a number to its patient-base: apparently 140k-150k PWDs are using the Dexcom CGM system around the world. About a quarter of those are from outside the U.S., which is why Dexcom plans to expand its international presence by establishing a European headquarters in Edinburgh, Scotland and expand the European team on all fronts. As of Monday 16th May, Advanced Therapeutics will no longer be the Dexcom distributer in the UK.

Dexcom CEO Kevin Sayer says that by the end of 2016 or early 2017, they’ll be launching a new, smaller G5 transmitter as well as a one-button-push insertion system. They’re also working on a new receiver, one that we’ve heard could be a touchscreen design and have an even more modern look than the iPod-style rectangle receiver made for the G4 launch in 2012.

“Over the next several years, we expect the transition to a direct commercial presence in multiple European countries, including the UK. We continue to believe that reimbursement could come in Germany and France and the UK in the near future and we will be ready to capitalize on that opportunity,” continued Sayer.

Animas will continue their relationship with Dexcom and supply through them will continue unchanged.

Expectations are that by the end of 2016 or early 2017, Dexcom will be launching a new smaller G5 transmitter as well as a one-button-push insertion system. They are also working on a new receiver, one that could be a touchscreen design and have an even more modern look than the iPod-style rectangle receiver made for the G4 launch in 2012.
